Eco-Chic Lifestyle Change Week 4: Weekly Update

  1. My SMART goal last week was: I will eat only 5 servings (serving = 3 ounces) of meat per week, for the next 7 weeks. I achieved my goal last week!
  2. I was successful last week because I really made a concious effort to keep my intake of meat low. It also helped that I upped my goal from 4 servings to 5 servings for the week because of Thanksgiving! I did well at not eating too much turkey on Thanksgiving day because it was at the beginning of the week and  I wanted to make sure I had enough servings left to make it through the week. I did eat 3 servings in the firs two days I was at home. One challenge that I faced was Thanksgiving food! Turkey is one of my favorite things at Thanksgiving so I had to consciously choose other things during meal time. It was a little easier because we did have many alternatives like sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, salad, corn, veggie bake, etc.
  3. During Thanksgiving I felt pressure to not eat too much turkey or other things that involved meat. However, during the rest of the week when I did pretty well at Thanksgiving I felt very able to meet my goal. I was happy that I did so well at Thanksgiving so that I was still able to meat my goal!
  4. I learned this week that sometimes when you are coming across something that you know is going to be hard for you to complete if you are honest and truly conscious about what you are consuming you are able to meet the goals that you have set for yourself!
  5. My plans for next week are to move back down to 4 ounces. So my SMART goal is: I will eat only 4 servingsg (serving = 3 ounces) of meat per week. Since I won't have to worry about a big obstacle like Thanksgiving I would like to challenge myself again by moving back down to 4 to see if I can obtain it this week!

  1. It is great that you completed your goal this past week. I think you may have had one of the toughest goals over thanksgiving. It is great that you were conscious about how much turkey you ate. I am sure it was tempting. Great job and keep up the good work!

  2. Good job reaching your goal last week. Thanksgiving is a hard time for this specific goal, but that's good that you were able to work around that. Sweet potatoes, corn, and salad are all good for you (if prepared right) so that's great you had those options to choose from as well.

  3. I agree... you need to really make an effort towards obtaining some goals, especially when it has something to do with your daily habits that you've grown up with! (eating meat). I salute you for keeping up with your goal of 5 servings a week, even with Thanksgiving. Keep up the good work

  4. I think you probably had the hardest goal to maintain during Thanksgiving. Yay for you accomplishing your goal! I know that it would have been hard for me to not eat as much meat when I was at home!

  5. I think that if you can surpass Thanksgiving without breaking your SMART Goal, then you can do ANYTHING! Great job! It's true what you said, being honest to yourself can and will help you out on achieving a goal that you do want to do for your health. Thanks for sharing that and keep it up!

  6. Cuddos to you for being able to make it through Thanksgiving and still make your goal! Especially since the holiday tends to revolve around carving the turkey, haha! That's great that you were able to prep yourself before the holiday! I feel one reason I may not succeed in fully accomplishing a goal is because I didn't really think about what would happen if things don't always go according to plan. So to be able to identify your obstacles and prepare yourself for any challenges was a great initiative you did!

  7. Congratulations on achieving your goal even during the holiday break at home! Being out of your usual surroundings can make sticking to your goal much more difficult. I agree being honest with yourself and conscious about your target can really help. Good luck with your reduced goal next week!
