- My SMART goal is I will eat only 4 servings (serving = 3 ounces) of meat per week, for the next 10 weeks. I achieved my SMART goal this week by only eating 4 servings!
- One of the things that helped me to succeed this week was looking online things that vegetarians usually eat. This week I decided to go outside of what I normally eat each week and bought different things to make from the grocery store. Having these items in my house helped to make it easier to succeed. One of my challenges was going out to eat again. It's hard to think of things without meat to get at a restaurant, however, I overcame this at Mexico Lindo this week and got one of the vegetarian meals they easily lay out for you in the menu (which was helpful).
- I felt very accomplished this week because I worked hard to try to succeed because I knew how it felt to not succeed last week. I felt this everytime I was thinking that I wanted meat for dinner but decided on something else like homemade pizza (without meat) or a boca chicken patty.
- This week I learned that there are many alternatives out there that can make it easy to avoid meat. Don't get me wrong, I still ate meat this week and had things like chicken but it was easier to avoid them when I had yummy alternatives in my house!
- This next coming week is going to be a challenge for me seeing as it is Thanksgiving and I LOVE turkey! So I think this week I will up my goal so that it is more attainable for me to: I will eat only 5 servings (serving = 3 ounces) of meat per week, for the next 10 weeks.

That's great that you met your SMART goal this week. It is going to be a tricky one when you are home for Thanksgiving. I know its the time of the season that the best foods come by. One thing you can do is cook a yummy dish that has little to no meat in it to share for your family. That way your Thanksgiving dishes won't just be mainly meat dishes. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on making your goal! I know it's always a wonderful feeling when you can achieve something new! I wish you the best of luck this Thanksgiving! I feel this will be an obstacle you can overcome!
ReplyDeleteGreat job achieving your goal, and awesome job at looking up vegetarian alternatives. It's kind of fun to step out of your box isn't it? You can always load up on potatoes and other thanksgiving side dishes, even though they are probably not the healthiest things either!
ReplyDeleteWith vegetarianism becoming a much more popular lifestyle these days, its actually pretty easy to find vegetarian meals at restaurants.. or if anything, you can't go wrong with salads!! I'm also a meat-lover and it would be difficult for me to have to pass up some meals. But with you being in the same position as I pretty much am, maybe I will start to look at my habits and see how I can slowly alter them to lower my meat intake. It's quite inspiring :)
ReplyDeleteUsing the internet to find vegetarian meals was such a good idea! There are so many foods and ways to prepare them that you could never get bored. Like Elly said, many restaurants realize people are trying to eat healthier and offer delicious (non meat) meals.
ReplyDeleteYay for meeting your goal! It's good you found alternative meals, sometimes that can be hard to do! I love meat too, so I understand how hard it can be to limiting yourself. Do you eat meat just at supper and eat vegetairan the rest of the meals?
ReplyDeleteI just realized I spelled vegetarian wrong. Oops :)
ReplyDeleteI am really glad to hear that you met your goal this week! Good luck in the next coming week! I am sure you will do fabulous seeing as thanksgiving as come and gone already! hopefully you enjoyed your turkey!
