Share & Voice: "Texas Refuses to Implement New Greenhouse Gas Regulations"

For this week's Share & Voice I found an article called "Texas Refuses to Implement New Greenhouse Gas Regulations". The article talks about how Texas is refusing to implement new regulations that are related to greenhouse gas emissions. The regulations are implemented by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The new regulations permit writers and businessnes to consider the best available technology for reducing these emissions when building or modifying a plant. It is unknown why the state of Texas is so against these policies but it is very sad that they are refusing to cooperate.

I picked this article because I think it brings us back to the reality of there are still businesses and people out there who do not care about the environment and that these things are affecting our environment greatly. It is sad to think that Texas isn't following rules that a government run agency that is looking out for the best interest for our environment. It's safe to say that we still have a long way to go in these cases.

  1. It's disappointing to find out that there still are business and people out there who are not putting the environment first rather than their profit margins. We need to start thinking of ways to show these companies how being more environmentally friendly will not only help the environment but it will also benefit them in the long run.

  2. I feel like Texas is such a conventional state, they don't want to implement any new innovations, it's disappointing. It'd be interesting to see in a few years if their rates of illnesses have declined in comparison to the rest of the states.

  3. This is a sad story. Who doesn't want to help the environment out? Apparently Texas. Maybe they don't know enough information and they are just skeptical?

  4. I think this is extremely sad also. I think Texas is notorious for being the last to accept change. I hope the national government steps in and fines them or something to make them realize that this issue is serious.

  5. That is a little scary considering that Texas is one of the largest states in the U.S. Maybe it is like what Calista said and that Texas is simply not aware of how much it will benefit the environment in the future and are currently focused on how much it would cost them now. Sounds like they could use the help of health educators, anyone want to go to Texas!? :)

  6. Makes no sense... everyone has heard of these issues of pollution and know that it is a HUGE problem that needs to be solved. I wonder how the citizens of Texas feel about that?! I know that if MN was not supportive of reducing greenhouse gas emissions I would be very disappointed, and make sure that I let my voice be heard. Hopefully this changes SOON

  7. I also agree that this is very scary considering Texas is one of the largest states in the country! they are also one of the most influential! Hopefully other states do not follow suit with Texas, much like they do with textbooks. It would be very sad and disappointing!
