I found a website called
Eartheasy: Solutions for Sustainable Living. It is basically a blog that tells you all about different topics and let's people write about different topics. The one I was most interested in is called "
How to Use Seaweed to Mulch Your Garden".
I think this website is very interesting because I never knew that people used seaweed in their gardens. I probably would never have thought of it if I hadn't seen this blog either. This family loads up sacks of seaweed from the local beaches and trucks it back to their home. I'm sure the beaches DNR loves the help. There are many benefits that come from seaweed for gardening they include:
- Eliminates the need to weed
- Repels slugs and other pests
- Enriches the soil
- Boosts lethargic plants
- Helps lighten the soil
- Does not contain weed seeds, unlike bark mulch
- It's free!
I think this information is very interesting and beneficial for anyone who has a garden. I do not personally have a garden, nor do my parents but if I ever do in the future I think this is something I would take a look at to help my plants. I have linked the website above so if you want to check it out further for more tips you should!
This is a really informative website! I looked into the energy conservation tab and there were so many great ideas. Obviously using a clothes line reduces energy but there were some unique things I had never seen before. Such as a clothes dryer heat save, so by drying clothes you're also using the heat and electricity to heat your house! There were also draft guards to keep warm air in and cool air out or the opposite in summer. Just theses small things can save a lot of energy. Great find!
ReplyDeleteI liked all of the eco-friendly products available on the site! It is cool to see that many manufacturers are keeping green living in mind! I really liked that there were SO many different ways you could conserve water: inside and outside. Very cool site!
